You know when you go to Northside when...

-you know what the pig in the sidewalk is
-speaking Spanish to Manny has gotten you out of trouble
-the security guards spend more time guarding the lunch line than the school
-you take pride in not needing an ID
-your school isn’t named after anyone, but the part of Chicago where it happens to be located
-your homecoming dance may be for an academic team next year, cuz all the other teams never win
-you’re a sophomore and there are 2 or 3 to one locker, yet an empty one next to you
-you are cool with all the security guards and you have conversations with them like no other
-you go to advisory (not homeroom, NOT DIVISION, but ADVISORY)
-your teacher left a high paying job to work at northside
-Pi day is the most recognized holiday
-you can live off of spicy fries and slushies from the hole in the wall
-your happen to be at school to 6 pm only to see the entire student population still at school (mostly in the 2nd floor atrium)
-you have to explain to your friends in other schools the concept of colloquium
-the main stairway is like a traffic jam, but the side stairways might as well be nonexistent..(its not like anyone actually uses them, no matter how convenient they are.)
-no one can understand your schedule
-when ppl from other schools ask u what lunch period u have, its hard to explain
-u SWEAR uve gotten A.D.D. from being expected to sit on ur ass for 100 minutes and pay attention
-most of your classes consist of conversations, not lectures or actual learning
-you don’t play real sports in PE, but play stuff like “handball” and “pickleball”
-you can name all the other black kids in the school (and probably count them on one hand)
-seeing a minority is a rarity
-Asian is no longer consitered to be a minority
-you have 8 minutes between classes in a small ass school and your still late to class
-you holla at everyone you know in the halls
-your homecoming is in January
-you get laughed at for not having a football team
-the administrators tell you that you don’t have a football team because we don’t have the money, but you really know its because we don’t have the guys
-uve gotten yo juke on only for Maha to break it up
-you write PAPERS about MATH
-losing your graphing calculator is the worst thing in the world
-you don’t know where the lost n found is, instead you just send an email
-you’ve hung out at the mcdonalds on foster and kedzie
-you're at mcdonalds and you can definently diffrenciate between the northside kids and the von steuben kids easily
-you take the 92 to get anywhere
-u dont have off campus lunch because of Von Steuben
-you rather go to Von’s Halloween dance than your own
-you dont even know who wins homecoming court
-the largest group/organization/club is the Asian Club
-you talk about school, outside of school
-you know who jerry wang is
-your an upperclassmen and have freshman in your class
-you believe: mr. mather > ms. moreno
-you say and type things in math form (as represented above)
-rob eschmann is ur basketball hero
-you say "come ON! this is NORTHSIDE!" after someone says something stupid
-you analize everything (songs, sayings, titles, EVERYTHING)
-u can make fun of ur teachers n they laugh along (pagani, rodgers, mr santiago, etc)
-you dont even remember what school bells sound like
-u went to homecoming w/out a date (its okay, so did everyone. its called going STAG)
-ur in a group dedicated to something school related(i.e. a teacher, person, this group in general..)
-ur up until 2 AM doin hw, not because there is alot of it, but because you've procrastinated for so long (if u get something on monday and its due thursday you're doing it wednesday night or at lunch before class)
-you've experienced the joy of having mr WESTERHOFFF<3 as a sub
-you've walked 5 miles to see a cubs game
-your school has an administrator named "ms wiener"
-everyone seems to be having a party for pi day (3.14959, baby!)
-you know where the best chocolate chip cookies are (the hole in the wall)
-you'd think there was a uniform from all the north face sweaters and birkenstocks you see.
-a POW is not a prisoner of war, it's a problem of the week <3
